Port Blair, Oct 13: Shri Jatin Narwal, IPS (DIGP/HQ) is visiting North & Middle Andaman district to review the overall Covid19 situation and to re-energize and further sensitize the police staff regarding COVID. This visit is particularly important in view of the upcoming festive season. As part of that visit DIGP/HQ visited Kalighat and Diglipur police stations on 12th and 13th October. In these visits, he interacted with the public representatives, heads of religious institutions, members of market association. In these meetings, the attendees appreciated the efforts done by the police.
Humanitarian work done by the police, especially during the initial phase of lockdown, when police personnel helped in getting the ration articles and medicines delivered and distributed in the remote areas and also specific instances where police helped the ill and sick, were mentioned and appreciated by the public. DIGP also interacted with the police staff. Addressing the police personnel, he said that they have to keep themselves also safe, then only they’ll be able to perform their duties better.
Staff was also briefed about specific guidelines issued regarding the gathering during the upcoming festivals. He said that effective implementation of those guidelines is extremely important, so that the COVID cases do not rise after festivals. In the meeting with public representatives also he emphasized on these aspects.
