Port Blair, Oct 13: Shri Suneel Anchipaka, Deputy Commissioner (SA) chaired a meeting at Kendriya Vidyalaya-1, Port Blair regarding water conservation which was attended by various stakeholders viz., SDM (SA), AC (U/T), Principal & teachers of the school and Civil society members etc.
The aim of the meeting was to inculcate the habit of water conservation among the school going students right from the childhood. The school has already formed an Eco-Club and Nature club. The activities of the clubs will involve children right from primary classes to higher secondary classes. The clubs will also focus on water conservation activities along with maintaining a clean and green campus.
During the visit to the School, DC examined the premises about the possibilities of bringing new water conservation projects. The Principal also explained about the existing water conservation mechanisms that are being managed with Student-Teacher co-ordination. DC also emphasized on the maintenance of these already created infrastructure and mechanisms and expressed his confidence that inculcating the culture of water conservation among students would help the islands in future also.
The DC (SA) assured all kind of technical help required by the school management in this venture.
