Port Blair, October 12: The Pradhan of Netaji Nagar, Gram Panchayat, Little Andaman has requested to start boat services from Port Blair to Hut Bay.
In a letter addressed to Mr Kuldeep Rai Sharma, the Member of Parliament of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Mr Babul Das, Pradhan, Netaji Nagar, stated that, there are approximately 400 to 600 people stranded at Port Blair and as known already, the students studying in various colleges had their exams in last month and the students of Little Andaman had proceeded to Port Blair to appear their exams.
“Now as they have fulfilled their purpose, they are now waiting to return back to their respective places but due to non-availability of boat services they are stuck at Port Blair. A similar scenario can be witnessed with the patients and pregnant ladies who had proceeded to Port Blair for their treatment are stuck there without money to afford their stay, which has consequently added to their trouble,” he mentioned in his letter.
Mr Das requested to provide a boat service for the stranded people of Little Andaman so that they can be reach back to their place. He further said that, the passengers should be tested for Covid-19 for free of cost, as they are already under financial burden.
