Port Blair, Oct 06: The Donation Box of Durga Temple, Haddo that was stolen on 24th of September, 2020 was recovered on the same day by the efforts of Chatham Police Station.
As per reports, on 24th September 2020, the priest of the temple registered a complaint about the stolen Donation Box (hundi) in the Chatham Police Station as a result of which a team under the leadership of Sub Inspector Mr. Manoj Lall and under the overall supervision of SHO Chatham Police Unit Inspector Mr. Gaurav Banerjee started the investigation.
After scrutinizing the nearby CCTV camera of the temple, the team developed intelligence, and one suspect namely Laxman Debnath was traced.
On interrogation, Laxman Debnath confessed to the crime committed by him and the team succeeded to find the Donation Box in the bushes behind Van Sadan. An amount of Rs 1640 was also recovered from the accused. Suitable action was taken against the thief, as per the law.
