Port Blair, Sept 29: Acting on a tip off, the officials of Baratang Forest Department Unit, headed by Mr. Dharma Rao, Forest Ranger, Adajig Range conducted a search operation at Adajig Beat, in response to call received from a informer.
During the search operation, illegal Hand sawn padauk timber of 0.192 cbm were seized on 29/09/2020 at 13:05 Hrs. Earlier, on 21/09/2020 at 15:30 hrs a quantity of 0.081 cbm of illegal hand sawn padauk timber was seized from Flat Bay Bengali Basti. Cases have been registered for violation of the provisions of Indian Forest Act, 1927 in these matters and investigation is under process.
Mr. Vipul Pandey, IFS, Divisional Forest Officer, Baratang has, further, appealed to the general public to share credible information pertaining to illegal activities related to forest & wildlife over Phone No.279522 (Nilambur Range) and Mob. No. 9531860638 (RO, Adajig Range). The identity of the informer will be kept secret.
