Port Blair, September 29: The road construction work between Pema Tikri to Patthar Tikry 12 Kilometers that came to a halt by the NHIDCL since March 2020 due to non-receipt of NOC from the Environment and Forest Department has resumed again after the District Commissioner, North and Middle Andaman, Dr. Angel Bhati Chauhan intervened into the matter.
As per reports, the condition of the road in aforesaid stretch was so bad that traveling has become challenge for the ATR commuters.
The troubled residents when contacted Mr. Ramakrishna Rao, Project Manager, NH4 Mayabunder zone he said that they have started work in this stretch in the month of November 2019, and they had completed more than 59%work till March 2020.
“Just because they haven’t received the NOC from the Department of Forest and Environment, they were unable to further carry out the road construction work on the stretch,” Mr. Rao had informed public.
After knowing the fact from the Project Manager, NH4 Mayabunder zone, the matter was highlighted to the DC, North, and Middle by Andaman Sheekha correspondent, as a result of which the DC immediately took up the matter with the concerned department and ordered the NHIDCL authorities to proceed with the road work between the aforementioned areas. The stringent action of Dr. Chauhan, has been highly appreciated by the residents of the region.
