Port Blair, September 22: Dr. Angel Bhati Chauhan, DC, N & M Andaman made a surprise visit to the Billyground area this evening.
During the visit Dr. Angel Bhati Chauhan and Assistant Commissioner Head Quarters, Mr. Mohan Kumaran inspected with Hari Nagar Panchayat Pradhan and PRI Members and discussed about the Covid-19 situation of the Billiground area in the Panchayat Bhavan. They also heard about all the important issues of the area, so that all the issues can be evaluated and resolved before situation becomes serious.
Dr. Chauhan and Mr. Kumaran then inspected the Billiground market and fined 6 shopkeepers who were operating their shop without wearing masks and issued orders to seal those shops for 7 days.
The DC also urged the people to follow all the COVID-19 guidelines to defeat COVID-19 pandemic.
She said, cooperation of people is very important in this difficult time.
Dr Chauhan reportedly expressed her satisfaction over the recent works of District Administration, carried out under MGNREGA, to stop land-sliding at Billyground region, which had become a major threat for some shops and also ATR.
Shri Uttam Mandal, Pradhan Hari Nagar Panchayat, lauded the move of the DC to pay a surprise visit to the area.
The DC also visited Rangat region in the evening hours and imposed fine on 3 shopkeepers for not wearing masks and not maintaining social distancing. These shops have been sealed for 7 days for such violations.
