Port Blair, September 01: Insiders in Community Health Center, Diglipur have made serious allegations against the hospital authorities for not taking any stance on crucial issues.
According to the allegations put forth by insiders of the Hospital, a few health workers were not allowed to give samples for COVID test after 03 of their colleagues were tested COVID19 positive .
Sources alleged that two drivers and one sanitation worker was tested corona positive in CHC Diglipur on 30th August 2020. This created panic amongst the other staffs of the CHC, who obviously went to their Chief Medical Officer and requested for their COVID testing or Quarantine, which was allegedly denied.
Not only this, the staff even alleged that there is shortage of PPE kits in the CHC and other necessary medications like Remdesivir, which is showing some good (although not very good) results on COVID19 patients in Andaman.
“Such insensitive management policy, is inhuman. The CMO is putting his medical staffs’ life at stake and also he is making his hospital staffs a potent source of corona infection. This matter must be seen by our administrators personally, ensuring the testing, quarantine and safety of Health Care workers of CHC Diglipur and other PHCs of North and Middle Andaman, so that they don’t become the unknown source of infection for the general public and also their morals remain high to serve public,” alleged a source.
However, talking to Andaman Sheekha, the Chief Medical Officer of the CHC, Diglipur, Dr. Siddha Raju refuted all allegations and said that it is true that 03 workers of the hospital were tested positive recently and taking note of it, COVID19 tests of around 05 other workers were conducted, whose results are yet to come.
He also said that the CHC has sufficient stock of PPE Kits and is given to the staff, as and when required. Although, he agreed that Remdisivir medication is currently not in the stock but he mentioned that “it isn’t RAM-VAN (100% cure)”.
Lastly, he stated that the CHC Diglipur is currently dealing with 07 Corona affected patients in which two are being given oxygen but are not critical.
