Port Blair, Aug 04: Five staffs of Andaman Aadim Janjati Vikas Samiti (AAJVS) have been tested Corona Positive in rapid test. The news about this development has created a ripple in social media and many people have expressed their deep concern on this issue.
When Andaman Sheekha spoke to Mr. Sanjeev Kumar Mittal, the Principal Secretary, Directorate of Tribal Welfare he said that all these staffs, who have been tested positive were not in duty since last 15 to 20 days.
He said that administration is taking all possible steps to ensure that tribal communities are safe from COVID19 infection and for this all precautions have also have been taken.
He said that the department initiated steps to protect tribes from Corona even before the Lockdowns were ordered and stopping ATR convoy through Tribal Reserve area was on that direction.
He said that to ensure safety of tribal people AAJVS workers have already been sensitized, tribal people have also been sensitize in their own language through AAJVS staffs.
He said that testing of AAJVS workers for COVID19 was also a part of this precaution.
“Administration is fully alert and taking all possible steps,” the Principal Secretary, Directorate of Tribal Welfare assured.
