Port Blair, July 07: On 05th July, 2020, the Bharatiya Janata Party, A & N Islands led by its State President Shri Ajoy Bairagi took up the burning issues pertaining to Agricultural Sector & Farmer’s Welfare, due to which the farmers of our Islands have suffered. The following issues were taken up with the Prime Minister, the Minister for Agriculture and Farmer’s Welfare as well as other concerned ministry and the state president sought for early redressal of their grievances.
Declaration of entire Andaman and Nicobar Islands as drought hit area; Acute shortage of Organic as well as Chemical fertilizers; Awarding adequate compensation to the farmers of A & N Islands and bringing Arecanut within the scope & ambit of PM Fasal Bima Yojna; Lack of seriousness in the minds of bureaucrats of A & N Administration for solving water crisis & setting up of “JAL BOARD”; Considering the announcement of Atma Nirbhar Bharat Abhiyan, no imports be allowed/permitted for anything including Coconut produce, Arecanut, stone aggregates etc. and non-availability of fish seeds, sufficiently.
