Port Blair, June 26: Andaman and Nicobar Islands today witnessed highest jump in COVID19 cases as today 14 new COVID19 cases have been reported in Andaman.
Officials informed in the morning that 11 Defense personnel who landed in Port
Blair recently, one Home Guard Jawan and two other persons were found positive.
This is the maximum number of positive cases reported in Andaman and Nicobar Islands in a single day. Now, the total number of COVID-19 cases reported has reached 72 out of which 43 have recovered.
According to Health Department sources, out of 11 Defense personnel, who were found COVID19 today, 10 had landed in Port Blair recently in a Chartered flight hired by Andaman and Nicobar Command and one had reached nearly 10 days back but as he developed fever, he was tested for COVID19.
Out of other three patients, one is a female patient of Tuberculous meningitis from Prem Nagar, who returned to Andaman recently from Mainland after treatment, another is a Home Guard Jawan and the third one is a resident of Shadipur area of Port Blair. Total Active cases in Andaman stands at 29.
