Port Blair, June 14: These days the Enforcement Team of the Civil Supplies Department is on fire and is not letting any illegal activities happen. Several inspections have been done in recent days and many vendors were caught doing illegal activities like overcharging, using non-standard weights et cetera.
In one such case, a raid was conducted by the Enforcement Team of the Civil Supplies Department yesterday in a canteen opposite to GB Pant Hospital after they got the tip about the owner of the canteen selling packed products at excessive rates that too without the MRP.
The tip was found to be a fact and hence, the enforcement team of the Civil Supplies Department took appropriate action against the Canteen Owner, as per the law. The Director, Civil Supplies Department, Dr. Navlendra Kumar Singh himself led the team during the raid, it is learned.
A week ago, the Enforcement Team of the CS Department conducted several inspections in all the fish markets and vegetable markets under the supervision of Dr. Singh and found many fishermen cheating consumers by using non-standard weighing stones.
Andaman Sheekha has also learned that the entire staffs in the Civil Supply Department are working late hours in order to do the maximum work and ensure that the general public is not cheated by the vendors during the time of the pandemic.
