Port Blair, June 14: The ‘Port Blair Guru Ki Rasoi’ has taken care of a large section of Andaman Society during the time of pandemic and exhibited tremendous amount of dedication towards serving people. Right from the poor, not having a penny for food to the people, who worked round the clock during the period of lockdown, the ‘Port Blair Guru Ki Rasoi’ reached every section for help.
Serving fifty-one thousand meals from 01st April 2020 to till date, is enough to understand the dedication of volunteers in Port Blair Guru Ki Rasoi.
Starting with serving 200 meals per day, the Port Blair Guru Ki Rasoi touched the mark of serving 1200 meals per day just from 07th April onwards.
Let it be the stranded workers or the central government employees working day and night for the welfare of the people in the lockdown were catered by the volunteers of the ‘Port Blair Guru Ki Rasoi’.
The most admired part of the service was the food provided; it never ended with Dal-Chawal but Khichadi, Pulao, Mutter Paneer, Soya-bean potato, Chola puri were the many other dishes which were dished out to the needy.
The volunteers of ‘Port Blair Guru Ki Rasoi’ also supplied Dry ration to the needy people residing in Middle point, Dignabad, Atlanta Point, South point, and Namuna Ghar.
A total of 225 packed lunches was supplied to the District Commissioner Office, South Andaman while for two continuous days meals were provided to the tailors of the South Andaman District.
On 13 April 2020 on Baisakhi lunch to all police personnel was catered to the police personnel deputed in Barricades. Lunch was supplied to the child care institutions like Vanavasi Kalyan Ashram, Pranab Kanya Sangha, Seva Niketan, and Ferrargunj old age Home on 26th May 2020.
With its service, the ‘Port Blair Guru Ki Rasoi’ received a commendation from the District Commissioner South Andaman on 10.06.2020 and from 01st June it also got registered as Charitable Society.
“Till we exist we will work to serve the needy, protect all child rights, save the environment and animal rights,” said Mr. Mandeep Grewal, President, Port Blair Guru Ki Rasoi.
