Car Nicobar, May 20: Two Labourers of Chadha Construction Company suffered major injuries when they fell from the roof of an under-construction BSNL building at Car Nicobar Headquarter on 15th May 2020.
As per reports, both the workers Mr. Khajar Malik and Mr. Prasanjit Paul from West Bengal got caught in a downpour while they were working on the rooftop of the building.
However, when they thought of coming down one got slipped following which he suffered a leg fracture while the other labor came into the contact of the first labor and he fell from the building and got stuck in a wall of the next building and he suffered a spinal injury.
As per eyewitnesses, PC SN Pathak of Car Nicobar Police Unit and Fire Brigade Personnel Mr. Joseph, and Mr. Asif Khan did a remarkable job to take out the laborer in the stretcher who got stuck in the wall of the next building after falling.
Both the laborers were shifted to the Car Nicobar Hospital immediately and because of severe injuries, they were shifted to Port Blair, GB Pant hospital the next day viz 16th May 2020 itself.
Even after the owner of the construction company assured the laborers of providing the expenses for medical treatment in the mainland after the lockdown ends, a case was registered by the Car Nicobar Police Unit against the construction company owner Mr. KC Chadha and his supervisor Mr. Rajesh for the negligence of not providing the safety equipment to the labourers, it is learned.
