Port Blair, Apr 09: Shri Kuleeep Rai Sharma, Member of Parliament, A&N Islands in a letter dated 09.04.2020 addressed to the Chief Secretary, A&N Administration has informed that in view of prevailing situation of COVID-19, the Prime Minister of India held meetings through video conferences with the State Heads/State Chief Ministers and Political heads seeking their views/suggestions and also to assess the ground realities etc.
In order to mitigate the several issues in these remote Islands and to protect the interest of the Islanders to assess the prevailing situations and ground realities of various problems being faced by the Islanders, he requested the Chief Secretary to convene an urgent meeting involving Member of Parliament, A&N Islands, Ex-Member of Parliament, A&N Islands, All Heads of Political parties in A&N Islands, Adhyakshas, Zilla Parishad, South Andaman and North & Middle Andaman Districts, Chairman, Port Blair Municipal Council, All Pramukhs of Panchayat Samities, Chairmans of all Tribal Councils, President, Andaman Chamber of Commerce & Industry and One representatives of Media persons, who are regular touch with the Islanders and aware of the ground realities so that they can place before the UT Administration for resolution. During meeting, social distancing norms shall be maintained since video conference facilities are not available with us.
