Port Blair, Mar 30: The Zilla Parishad member of Baratang Island and also the upadhyaksh of North and Middle Andaman Zilla Parishad Mr Alager Swami today said that approximately 50 residents of Baratang Island are stranded in Port Blair city, who had gone to Port Blair for various medical and other essential purposes before the lockdown.
Talking to Andaman Sheekha, Mr. Alager Swami requested the administration to help those Islanders to immediately return back to Baratang after necessary medical clearance as per government norms, as they don’t have enough money to stay in lodges of Port Blair city or to manage their daily expenses.
According to him many don’t have enough money for their survival and these people are going through a horrible time in Port Blair. “They are desperately crying for help,” he said.
He said that till any other arrangements are made for these stranded people of Baratang and also other Islands, they must be provided with free food and shelter at Port Blair.
