Port Blair, Mar 29: Major negligence in social distancing was seen today infront of Petrol Pumps of Port Blair after the petrol pumps were opened following direction of Administration.
Hundreds of people, neglecting their and others’ safety reached infornt of these petrol pumps and made beeline.
It is learnt that all the petrol pumps will remain open from tomorrow and will continue to be open throughout the lock down period. Sources said that enough stock is available at IOC to feed the pumps and therefore there is no need to panic and rush to fill up 2 wheelers and 4 wheelers as was done by people today, which resulted in extraordinary long queues at the Jadwet Petrol Pump.
“This is not safe and defeats the call of the government about social distancing and overcrowding. Public must desist as the lock down is not only for Islanders’ personal interest but also for the larger interest of these Islands,” a responsible citizen urged public.
