Port Blair, Mar 08: “I am generation Equality: Realizing Women’s Rights” is the theme of this year’s International Women’s Day which is to be celebrated on 8th March. To create awareness among the gender equality, PradhanMantriKaushal Kendra, organized an event on 6th March at their Andaman centre situated at RGT road.
Dr. Kavita R Shanmughan, Director, Pratibimb was the guest of honour on the occasion and Mrs. AartiKumari, Community Resource Person with ASHA schemes, also graced the event. She spoke in length about various challenges that a woman goes through at different stages in her life and how that can be dealt with if one is determined to succeed. Trainees from different trades presented their viewpoints on how the world’s perspective on gender equality can be realized and the atrocities against women shall be addressed. They opined that the acceptance of equality should be garnered since the childhood in every human being irrespective of their gender.
Dr. Kavita shared her insights on why women need to be empowered, financially independent, and considered for equal opportunities. She emphasised that women’s needn’t be compared with the other gender at all as the physical and mental framework of both are different. Further she also highlighted few real life cases that shows why it is essential for a women to up-skill themselves.
The event was witnessed by forty plus female trainees and women staffs and culminated with the vote of thanks by Mr. SumirJeet Narayan, Head PMKK Andaman.
