Port Blair, Feb 05: The eleventh discussion of Andaman and Nicobar Police Study Circle was held on 05th February, 2020 in the Conference Hall of Police Headquarters. Chairman, National Technical Research Organization (NTRO) chaired the discussion, and spoke on the subject, “Post Modern Intelligence Paradigm – Role of Technology”. The discussion was attended by senior officials from Andaman & Nicobar Police and NTRO. At the outset, Shri Dependra Pathak, IPS, Director General of Police, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, gave an overview of Andaman & Nicobar Police, its capabilities, new initiatives and best practices being followed by Andaman & Nicobar Police. He also explained about the current, as well as emerging challenges, roles and responsibilities of Andaman & Nicobar Police arising out of strategic location, remoteness and growing importance of the Islands.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chairman, NTRO spoke about the role, structure of NTRO and the crucial role being played by the organization in intelligence gathering and evaluation. He also spoke about the various methods of technical intelligence collection and its relevance for all aspects of national security planning. He emphasized upon the role of human element in sagacious evaluation of enormous amount of data made available by various technical intelligence means. He discussed the strategic importance of the Andaman & Nicobar Islands, and the need for robust intelligence mechanism and adequate anti-terror preparedness by Andaman & Nicobar Police. He promised all help and support from NTRO to Andaman & Nicobar Police in developing its intelligence capabilities in the technological domain. The programme ended with an interactive question and answer session covering the discussion in detail.
