Port Blair, Jan 28: More than 150 packets of drug like substances, suspected to be Methaqualone today drifted ashore of Mus and Lapathy villages of Car Nicobar Island.
According to reports since morning police got reports about such packets, reaching shores of these remote villages of Tribal Dominated Car Nicobar Islands.
Andaman and Nicobar Police team reportedly searched the entire coast line and got nearly more than 150 such packets.
Indian Coast Guard had recently intercepted two Myanmarese vessels on 20 December 2019 and on 19 September 2019 and seized nearly 356 packets and 1160 packets of suspected banned Methaqualone, respectively.
Now it is suspected that during the last such seizure crew members of Myanmarese vessel might have dumped some drugs in water, which has now washed ashore of Car Nicobar Island.
“It seems that these are same packets but only after proper test anything can be confirmed,” said a senior officer who does not want his name to be quoted.
Authorities at Car Nicobar Island are now taking maximum precaution so that these packets do not reach to any tribal person or any resident of Car Nicobar Islands.
