Port Blair, Jan 20: Pathetic road from Ograbraj Junction to Shaitaan Khari and Namunaghar Junction to Dunduspoint Jetty has become a constant source of pain and disappointment for the villagers of the area and hence, the villagers have now planned to stage a Chakka Jam protest to put forth their demands, if no action is taken within 15 days to make the said road motorable and safer.
The villagers of the area has already written a letter to the Lt Governor, Andaman and Nicobar Islands on 17th January, 2020 wherein, the villagers stated that even after repeated requests to the competent authorities, took no steps to repair the said stretch of road.
“The Andaman Public Works Department promised us that they will start the work in the month of December and we waited but till now the work didn’t start, which has forced us to take the step, the roads are in such a condition that children of these areas cannot travel, a lot of dust in this road stretch is health problems to people, especially children,” said Mr Kandiah, Ex-Pradhan of Namunaghar area.
As per the letter to the Lt Governor, the villagers of the three panchayats will wait till 26th January, 2020 and if nothing happened till then, the villagers will block the road on 27th January, 2020 at Ograbraj Junction.
