Port Blair, Jan 19: While entire nation is using 4G service, the residents of Billyground- to Pokkadera region of Middle Andaman are not even getting 2G connectivity since last nearly one week which has pushed the remote Islanders in further Isolation. The problem is such that even whatsapp is not working for the people residing in these areas.
The large sufferers are the students who are residing in Billyground to Pokkadera region as they are unable to take the help of internet for studies or creative works. Also, the shop owners who are totally depended upon the internet for their business are badly hit.
“Today Internet can provide all kind of study materials to students living in any part of this world but not in Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Students of Middle Andaman neither have a good library nor even internet to solve doubts online. Even a simple google search takes several hours,” said a student.
Business owners have their own grievances because of this pathetic 2G and 3G services.
At present BSNL blames NHIDCH while NHIDCL blames BSNL for poor 2G and 3G connectivity, while remote villagers remain totally confused.
