Mayabunder, Jan 19: Nine NIOS students under Model Senior Secondary School, Mayabunder, have claimed that they appeared their 10th and 12th examination in the month of April- May 2019 and they failed in a subject due to the negligence of the in-charge NIOS of the said school.
According to the students, the practical assignment which they duly submitted in the month of January 2019 was not submitted by the in- charge NIOS to the concerned section on time, following which the marks for practical did not get credited in their mark-sheet and finally, all of them failed.
Also, according to students when they highlighted this matter to the District Commissioner, North and Middle Andaman during the time, the concerned in- charge of NIOS was called by the DC for hearing wherein, the in- charge had accepted his mistake.
The said in charge had also assured the students that he will resolve the matter for the students in 10 days but for the reasons unknown this was not done.
Later representatives of an NGO ‘Our Rights Organization’ took up the matter in the LG’s Grievance Desk on dated 17.12.2019 where, the education department has now replied that the 09 students submitted their practical assignments after the due date, that is 31.01.2019.
“This is a lie and is totally unacceptable we submitted our practical assignments well on time and before 31st January, 2019, we are from a poor background and we can’t afford again to reappear for the same examination also this will consume time and why we must pay for others’ mistake,” questioned a student.
The students are now demanding an immediate inquiry against the in- charge of NIOS of Mayabunder for misleading the entire education department and also the Lt. Governor. Some social workers are now planning to challenge this matter in court.
