Port Blair, Jan 03: The Nicobar Police, in its continuous efforts to improve community policing and to aware school children, conducted awareness workshops at the following schools- GSSS Mallaca, GSS Kakana, GMS Tapoiming, GSS Arong, GMS Kinmai, GSSS Sawai, GSSS Lapathy, GSS Mus, GSS Tamaloo, JNV Arong from 23rd December, 2019 to 02nd January, 2020. The school children were made aware regarding various traffic rules, regulations, importance of wearing helmet and seatbelt while driving and were told to educate their family members, near and dear ones about the importance of traffic rules in their regular routine.
The Superintendent of Police, Nicobar District Sh. Rajeev Kumar, IPS briefed all the students about the ill effects of consumption of liquor, tobacco, pan masala, drugs in order to strive for a healthy well being. They were also administrated oath to never fall prey to these substances. Students were also told about the NIRBHEEK scheme (fighting fearlessly), an initiative, which connects the children with the law enforcement agencies within a fairly congenial environment, while promising complete secrecy of their personal information. The students were made aware about the installed NIRBHEEK complaint box.
Further, The students were told about various events (e.g. cross Country, Painting, Music, Dance) are being conducted by the Nicobar police during its “Police Raising Week” from 16th to 22nd January, 2020 under the “YUVA” initiative of A&N Police.
The awareness programmes were appreciated and responded well by the students and teachers of the schools. All the awareness programmes were carried out by Sh. Rajeev Kumar, IPS Superintendent of Police, Nicobar along with Sh. Prashant Choudhary, DANIPS, SDPO/ Car Nicobar and Insp. P.K. Abdul Arif, SHO PS Car Nicobar.
