Port Blair, Dec 10: To create awareness about prevention of AIDS, the Indira Gandhi National Open University Regional Centre, Port Blair has celebrated the World Aids Day on 29th November 2019 (3-5pm) along with School Children. The School children studying 6th to 12th standard has given the oral presentation of handwritten Essay on “Ten Ways to Prevent AIDS”. The appreciation certificate was distributed to all the 25 School children who have participated in the oral presentation. To promote AIDS awareness education in the region, the Regional Centre has arranged an exhibition of study material of HIV and Family Education at its library. The Resource Person Dr. Jahanvi, Programme In-charge, IGNOU LSC-0212P, ANIIMS, Port Blair has presented Power Point Presentation on AIDS.
The school teachers and parents have also participated in the said function.
The children from Vivekananda Kendra Zilla Parishad School, Port Mout, KV-1, Govt. Model Sr. Secondary School and GDMS Schools, Port Blair have participated in the function. The 30- BPCCHN students of IGNOU have also participated in the programme. Dr. T.R. Satyakeerthy, Assistant Regional Director has anchored the function. The Regional Director Dr.S.Ganesan motivated the school children to see the book exhibition, before the oral presentation.
