New Delhi, Dec 05: The protest / agitation called by Indian Pharmacist Association (IPA),in association with Pharmacist Employee Association(PEA) Delhi, against the proposed ammendment in schedule k under Drugs & Cosmetic Rules 1945 was huge success.
All together 52 different Pharmacist Associations / Organizations from all over India, participated and supported this call by IPA.
More than 3000 Pharmacists from all over India especially from UP, Kerala, TamilNadu, Karnatka, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Chattisghar, Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Rajasthan, Meghalaya, Tripura, Haryana, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Andaman & Nicobar Is, Gujrat, & West Bengal protested at Jantar Mantar today on 29/11/19.
Later a memorandum with charter of demand was submitted by a delegation in the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare which was led by Shri. Abhay Kumar, National President IPA, Shri. Bhupendra Kumar, Secretary General, IPA, Shri. B.B.Desai, from AIGPA, Shri. Malarvanan, State Genaral Secretary, Tamilnadu Govt.Pharmacists Association, Shri.Deepak Trehan,President, PGWA,& Smti. Vijaya Laxmi of Karnataka State Govt. Pharmacist Association were also present. The main points of the charter of demand were Immediate removal of proposed ammendment under point 23 under schedule K of Drugs and Cosmetic 1945 rule; Formation of Pharmacy Cell under Ministry of Health & Family Welfare; Inclusion of Pharmacist for CHO as assured under National Health Policy 2017 and Cadre formation with Promotional avenues for the Pharmacist as per Uttarakhand Govt.
The Secretary to the Health Minister GoI, Dr. Harsvardhan, assured positively on the charter of demand submitted by the delegation.
IPA is thankful to all the 52 Associations who have wholeheartedly supported this call by IPA, and assured all the Associations to work for the betterment & upliftment of Pharmacist & Pharmacy profession in India.
