Port Blair, Nov 25: Shortage of staffs at State Bank of India’s Branch of Wimberlygunj has brought enormous trouble for the residents of Wimberlygunj and nearby areas. Out of 04 counters only 01 counter is operational in the Wimberlygunj Branch resulting in customers to stand in a long queue and wait for hours for their turn to come.
Mr P Abdul Basheer a Social Activist of the area has brought the matter into the knowledge of the Regional Manager, SBI by addressing a letter to him, wherein, he has mentioned that the business people are largely affected due to staff shortage as their transaction never happen in time.
He further stated that cheques transfers of other banks also get delayed unduly causing financial complication to many customers.
Mr Basheer also stated that pensioners are very disappointed over this and they too are suffering as even at this age they had to wait a long time to complete their task in the bank.
“Due the inefficiency of the Bank’s management the customers are suffering, the branch has been left in a totally negligent manner, there is no drinking water facility as well,” the Social Activist alleged.
Mr Abdul also highlighted the RM that the SBI ATMs in the area mostly remain ‘out of cash’ or ‘out of order’ adding to the woes of the customers. Neither there is any watchman for the Bank nor a Security Guard for ATMs.
“Earlier the bank used to conduct various people oriented programmes in order to create better awareness and nowadays, that too has been stopped,” Mr Basheer said.
He finally requested the Regional Manager of SBI to take note of his points and sort the grievances of Bank’s customers in the area, at the earliest.
