Port Blair, Nov 24: An unmarried mother with the help of her elder sister and 02 friends reportedly abandoned her newborn baby in bushes near CHC Bambooflat after giving birth to the child in the midnight of 23rd November, 2019.
As per reports, the accused mother reportedly gave birth to the newborn after getting support from her elder sister and her friends.
Sources said that the delivery happened without the support of any Doctor as all doctors refused to do so, when contacted by the elder sister of the mother.
As per reliable sources, the friends of the accused mother had a ‘rented room’ in front of the Mortuary of CHC Bambooflat and hence, they planned to deliver the baby in the particular room and abandon the new born somewhere close, after the delivery.
Sources informed that early morning at around 05:00 am when a resident of Bambooflat staying close to the CHC, Mr Balaji was on a walk, he reportedly saw a new born inside bushes, moving her hands following which he immediately reported the matter to the police.
The child was immediately given a first aid by doctors and is currently in the ICU of the GB Pant hospital, fighting for her life.
The Bambooflat Police Unit swung into action after the case was reported this morning. The police unit headed by SDPO Ajay Kumar Rai and supervised by SHO Bambooflat, Inspector Illagovan took the help of the Dog Squad to trace the culprit.
Also, the Investigating Officer of the case Sudir Kumar and his team that included, SI Tejaswar Rao, PC Ashok Roy, PC Suresh Kumar, PC Debasis, PC Anil Kumar and Driver Mukesh left no stone unturned and quizzed the entire public of the area helping them in tracing the house of the accused.
After a lot of hard work the police team at around 02:00 PM finally succeeded to trace the accused persons and arrested the elder sister of the accused mother and her friends.
All the 03 have been produced to the court today. The accused mother is currently in the Hospital for treatment, It is learnt that once the accused mother recovers she will also be taken into custody.
It is also learnt that during the inquiry, all the accused revealed that the person who made physical relationship with the accused mother already left her a couple of months ago and is absconding.
The accused also said that they took the help of a lady who helped them deliver the baby.
A case under 317 IPC, exposure and abandonment of child under 12 years and a case of attempt to murder has been registered against all the 04 accused, it is learnt.
