Port Blair, Nov 17: Renowned Cricketer and the Chief of the BCCI Selection Committee, Mr Sandeep Madhusudan Patil, who is currently on a visit to Andaman and Nicobar Islands has suggested the Andaman Nicobar Cricket Association and Directorate of Sports to put down in writing to BCCI requesting facilities, so that future generations of the Islands may pursue their career in the game of Cricket.
Mr Sandeep Patil who was the special guest during a programme organized by the Andaman Nicobar Cricket Association at Netaji Stadium yesterday evening said that it’s good that a former Cricketer Mr Sourav Ganguly is now the chairman of BCCI and hence, if ANCA as well as the Directorate of Sports, Andaman & Nicobar Islands request in writing for facilities, it may get considered.
“One can only play if he has the facilities, it’s good that these Island are having a Cricket ground and sportsmen play Cricket here, but to flourish Cricket, there are many other factors involved into it,” said Mr Sandeep. Mr Sandeep also assured that he will take up the matter of linking ANCA with BCCI.
He later said that he is very happy to see the Islands’ sportsmen are performing well in the National and International games like Cycling etc. and wished the Cyclists of the Islands who are gaining fame by their game.
The Directorate of Education and Sports, Mr Kamlesh Kumar, Mr Mohd M Jadwet, Office Bearer, ANCA, Mr Aslam, Member, ANCA was also present during the programme.
