Port Blair, Oct 30: Automated Teller Machine of two reputed banks outside Jawaharlal Nehru Rajkeeya Mahavidyalaya (JNRM) have brought in huge concerns for the students after both the ATMs were found to be cashless for continuously two days, recently, leaving the student penniless at the time of need. Largely affected are the hostellers of the college.
The students of the college alleged that in many occasions the ATMs outside the college either remain cashless or is out-of-service, forcing them to look for other ATMs to get cash.
As per reports, to cater the requirements of the students of JNRM College, Andaman Nicobar State Cooperative Bank and State Bank of India started their ATM service outside the college, years ago. This not only benefited the students of the college but also the nearby residents of the area used the facility to their best.
“But since last few months both the ATMs were frequently found cashless and out-of-service raising ire among the users, who mostly depend upon these ATMs for acquiring cash,” said a student union leader.
Students requested the authorities of both the banks to look into the matter and sort the problems in their respective ATMs, so that they may avail the ATM facility at the best.
