Mayabunder, Oct 28: A youth namely Vijay Devan a resident of Port Blair reportedly attacked another youth of Mayabunder at Tugapur Junction with a knife on 26th October, 2019. As per reports, Vijay Devan who belongs to Port Bair had come to Mayabunder to meet his relatives. At Mayabunder he had an argument with a youth of Rest camp area.
As per sources, to take revenge of the same, accused Vijay Devan on the evening of 26th October, 2019 under heavy influence of liquor came to attack the youth with a machete while he was riding his bike at Tugapur Junction.
Sources said that before the attack both the accused and the youth had some argument. It is also learnt that another youth of the area, Mr. Komal Halder, who was an eyewitness at the spot immediately informed the Rest camp police out post about it. But he felt that before arrival of police the accused might kill the other youth and hence he intervened and took the Machete from Vijay Devan and threw it away.
On this the accused Vijay Devan reportedly took his knife and attacked Mr. Komal Halder, the person who had come to mediate. However, it is learnt that after the information the team of Rest camp police out post reached the spot and took the control over the accused and rushed the victim to the nearby Tugapur Primary Health Center. The victim is out of danger now. The police has arrested the accused and registered a case in this regard, it is learnt.
