Port Blair, Oct 23: Disaster Management Training imparted to the students and faculties of Industrial Training Institute, Dollygunj in the one day Training Workshop held at Multipurpose Hall of ITI, Dollygunj on 23.10.2019 to achieve the vision “Develop, Promote and Prepare Youths for managing disasters in ANI” under Disaster Management in Higher Education (DMHE) programme.
The Chief Guest Shri Govind Ram, Director (Disaster Management), A&N Administration on this occasion shared his experiences of Tsunami 2004 and also detailed the disaster preparedness of the Administration for managing disasters in ANI. The College/Institute community trained under DMHE programme can play vital role for strengthening the disaster preparedness in their Institutions/Colleges and also spread in the community.
The Principal Shri C.H. Venkatesh, ITI, Dollygunj appreciated the efforts of Department of Disaster Management to organize this Training Workshop for building the capacity of institute which is very useful for students as well as Institute for managing any disaster/emergency situation in future.
Shri Gyan Singh, Assistant Director (Log.), Directorate of Disaster Management stressed on student’s participation in the disaster preparedness to respond any disaster very effectively in Higher Institutions and also make the community safer. He elaborated all the activities of DMHE programme which are to be taken by the Institute to prepare their Disaster Management Plan and its implementation.
During the technical session, Shri Deen Mohammed, Safety Officer, Directorate of Disaster Management elaborated on Emergency Communication and Early Warning System of ANI and also on various communication elements that renders an institution “well prepared” to manage events during a disaster. He also stressed to prepare the Disaster Management Kit in each household.
ShriSanjeev Kumar Bishnoi, Fire Officer alongwith his team explained and demonstrated various classes of fire and exhibited different types of fire safety equipments. Shri D.S. Kushwaha, Sub-Inspector, NDRF and team were presented different techniques and procedures of Search & Rescue operation during disasters including MFR (Medical First Response).At the end the vote of thanks proposed by Shri Janik Ram, Assistant Director (Admn.), Directorate of Disaster Management.
