Port Blair, Oct 22: ICAR-Krishi Vigyan Kendra (CIARI), North & Middle Andaman organised live-telecast of Honble Union Agriculture Minister special speech on “balanced use of fertiliser” at Karmatang, Gram Panchayat Rampur. The programme was inaugurated in the presence of Mr. Dipankar Mistry, Adhyaksh Zila Parishad, N&M Andaman; Mr. Saw Tathu, Ex- Adhyaksh Zila Parishad; Smt. Naw Seviah, Pradhan, Gram Panchayat, Rampur; PRI-Members; Mr. A Soundar Rajan, Assistant Director, Department of Agriculture, Mayabunder, and Dr. B. L. Kasinath, Senior Scientist and Head, ICAR-KVK, N & M Andaman. The programme began with welcome address by Dr. B. L. Kasinath, Senior Scientist and Head, KVK, Nimbudera. In the inaugural address, Zilla Adhyaksh appreciated the work of KVK and urged the participants to adopt organic agriculture practices for sustainable production. In the technical session, Dr. Sonderajan expressed need for imbalanced use of plant nutrients and importance for maintaining soil health. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. B. L. Kasinath highlighted the decline in the fertility of soil due to imbalance use of fertilizer and discussed on zero budget farming. Mr. B. L. Meena, SMS (Agronomy) highlighted the technological advances in fertilisers and their uses. Dr. Shailesh kumar, SMS (Fisheries) shared the success story of progressive farmers and Mr. Tanmai Paul, Farm Manager described the usage of soil health card and different organic resources for maintaining soil heath. Mr. Prashant Pradhan, Programme Assistant (Computer) organised a film show on Zero budget natural farming and live-telecasting programme of Hon”ble Union Agriculture Minister programme on “ balanced use of fertiliser”. In addition to this, a scientist farmer’s interactive session was also organised for the benefit of farming community. In the concluding session, Dr. Shardul Vikram Lal, SMS (Animal Science) proposed vote of thanks. In the programme a total of 193 farmers and farmwomen were participate in the programme. The programme was conducted under the supervision and guidance of Dr. B. L. Kasinath, Senior Scientist & Head, KVK, N & M Andaman and Dr. B. Gangaiah, Director, CIARI, Port Blair.
