Port Blair, Oct 21: Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma on his recent visit to Campbell Bay on 14th and 15th October,2019 was shocked to hear from the parents, social workers, PRI Members of Campbell Bay that the teachers of some discipline at some schools are yet to be posted, whereas the current academic session has been started functioning since 1st July, 2019 and now it has passed more than 3 ½ moths. The school and subjects are PGT (Biology) and GTT (Maths) in Govt. Sr. Sec. School, Campbell Bay; PGT (Maths) & PGT (Arts) in Govt. Sr. Sec. School, Vijaynagar, Campbell Bay and PGT (Science), PGT (Maths) and Physical Education Teacher in Govt. Sr. Secondary School, Gandhinagar, Campbell Bay.
Considering the matter very serious since the complaints received are for the welfare of the students, the Member of Parliament informed the Secretary Education that due to non availability of teachers in the above schools, the education of the children in the respective subjects are affected badly since the Board Examination for 10th and 12th Class is scheduled to be held in the month of February & March, 2020 respectively.
The MP has also kept the officials informed that similar problems of shortage of teachers in various schools across A&N Islands are also exist and stated that if immediate steps to fill up all the vacant posts are not taken by way of immediate posting of respective teachers, the future carrier of the children will be adversely affected as 03 months have already passed from the commencement of the current academic session 2019-2020. The MP also appreciated the effort of a Veterinary Doctor who is taking the science classes in the Schools at Camp bell bay.
The Member of Parliament has thus requested the Secretary Education of the AN Administration for early filling of all the vacant posts of Teachers at Campbell Bay and other schools across A&N Islands at the earliest possible in the interest of the children’s education and their future carrier.
