Port Blair, Oct 18: Mr. R. Someswara Rao, newly elected Junior Vice Chairperson of Port Blair Municipal Council paid courtesy call on Admiral D K Joshi, (Retd.), the Lt Governor, A&N Islands and Vice-Chairman, Islands Development Agency today and discussed various developmental projects/issues related to PBMC.
The Junior Vice Chairperson, Port Blair Municipal Council also submitted letters to the Lt Governor, Andaman & Nicobar Islands and proposed construction of a flyover from Bengali Club to Marine that may release the traffic congestion in the busiest route of the city.
In his letter Mr Someswara Rao highlighted many other issues pertaining to the islands and requested him to execute those for the development.
Mr Someswara Rao in his letter also stated that if Ganja detecting machines are provided to concerned departments, it will help to curb the menace of Ganja in these islands.
He also requested the Lt Governor for increasing the Water fund of PBMC for benefitting the general public and requested CCTV cameras in various places in the city.
Among other demands he placed infront of the Lt. Governor through letters were diversion of calamity relief fund from the department of Disaster Management and Center Government, creating employment opportunity for youths of these Islands.
