Billyground, Oct 10: 32 Senior Citizens of Billyground area who were part of Rastriya Vikas Dal (RBD) team of Government of India, and were settled in Billyground area after Independence, have been honored by people of Middle Andaman with Maha Saradiya Samman, during by Billyground Durga Puja Committee on 7th October 2019.
Dr. P K Mandal, the Advisor of the Durga Puja Committee explained about the role and contribution of RVD families who were settled in Billyground area several decades back, when there were no facilities, like Hospital, School, available for them. Dr. Mandal pointed out that these family members of RVD laid the foundation of today’s Middle Andaman, which was a deep forest full of elephants and venomous snakes.
The Deputy Commissioner of North and Middle Andaman also visited Billyground during and attended function of Billyground Durga Puja Committee. During the programme he handed over prizes to winners of various competitions. He also lauded the efforts of Billyground Durga Puja Committee to make eco-friendly idols and pandal.
