Port Blair, Sept 25: In a major breakthrough, the Forest officials of Mannarghat Range during their routine patrolling seized 37 pieces measuring 1.037 cbm. of padauk hand sawn timber from Wrightmyo creek on 24.09.2019.
This was possible due to the hard work and concerted efforts of the Foresters Mr. Abdul Gafoor, Jaspat Lakra, Forest Guards Rakesh Ram, Abdul Saleem and Mazdoors, Palash Kumar Roy, Peter Alexander, Bandu and Bala Krishnan. The team while on their routine patrolling in the areas of Shoalbay-10, 12 and Wrightmyo Creek, detected padauk hand sawn timber concealed in bushes as well as in the creek water of Wrightmyo. The timber was immediately seized under the provisions of Indian Forest Act, 1927 and further investigation on the matter is going on. The entire operation was carried out under the close supervision of Mr. Ismale Kujur, Range Officer, Mannarghat.
The Divisional Forest Officer, South Andaman has, further, appealed to the general public to pass on credible information pertaining to illegal activities related to forest & wildlife over phone No.256178(Mobile Squad), 255344(Mannarghat Range), 224540 (Tushnabad Range), 287336(Manglutan Range), 252334(Garacharma Range), 281585(Jirkatang Range) & 255228(Divisional Office). The identity of the informer will be kept secret.
