Campbell Bay, Sept.24: On 20/09/2019 information was received that fishing boat namely M.V TWAHA bearing Regn. No.AN/SA/NM/1858 has developed some technical snag in the deep sea, near to Harminder Bay, Little Andaman and 05 fishermen are stranded in their boat.
Immediately, on the information, SI V.P Mishra, SHO PS Hut Bay and staff comprising of ASI S.N Rathor, PC Manoj Biswas of PS Hut Bay along with Inspr. (Master) O. Molla, SI (ED) Rajan, HC M. Hamza and HG Anush Kumar of PMF Unit Hut Bay proceeded on FIB M.V Bhasker Ghosh to rescue the stranded fishermen. In the inclement weather condition the police team traced out the cast away fishermen along with their boat from the open sea of Harminder Bay and rescued the fishermen namely (1) Sheik Mohammed (2) Mr. Abdull (3) Mr. R. Suresh (4) Sesh Raja and Mr. Moiddin Kashali all R/o Bambooflat, Port Blair. The fishing boat was towed with the help of FIB M.V Bhasker Ghosh to the sea shore. On enquiry, the rescued fishermen disclosed that they left from Port Blair for fishing on 16/09/2019 and while fishing in the territorial water of Little Andaman on 20/09/2019, suddenly the boat developed some technical fault and they were cast away.
Due to timely intervention and by avoiding all unfavorable weather condition the Police team rescued the cast away fishermen to shore safely. The entire rescue operation took place under the supervision of Mr. Prashant Chaudhary, SDPO Swaraj Dweep under the overall direction and supervision of Mr. Manoj C, IPS, Superintendent of Police, South Andaman District.
