Port Blair, Sept.23: Health & Wellness Center has come up at Shadipur, with its inauguration by Mr. Abhishek Dev, Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman, who is also the Chairman, District Health Society, South Andaman in the presence of Mr. Hari Kallikkat, IAS (P), Ms. Vinita Malhotra, Councilor Ward No. 11 and Dr. Md. Ali Imam, GDMO, HWC Shadipur today (Sept. 23, 2019), under Ayushmaan Bharat scheme, a flagship programme of the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Govt. of India . The Deputy Commissioner distributed the Golden Cards to the registered ASHA workers under Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojna (PMJAY) scheme. He asked the gathering to avail the services of Health & Wellness Centre and the PMJAY Scheme under the flagship programme ‘Ayushman Bharat’ to create healthy community for betterment of the nation. He also urged the paramedical staffs, ASHA workers and general public to create awareness at community level.
During the above function, Mr. B. Nagendra, District Programme Manager, DHS (SA) informed that the health facilities is being upgraded at the Health & Wellness Center under Ayushman Bharat to address the preventive, primitive, curative & rehabilitative health care needs of the general public in its catchment area by upgrading the infrastructure and human resource to provide services at community level, such as pregnancy care and maternal health services, neonatal and infant health services, child health, chronic communicable diseases, non-communicable diseases, management of mental illness, dental care, eye care, geriatric care emergency medicine and Yoga.
Altogether 13 Health & Wellness Centre under South Andaman District have been inaugurated today. They included Shadipur, Garacharma, Manglutan, Chouldhari, Tushnabad, Ferrargunj, Wimberlygunj, Swaraj Dweep, Shaheed Dweep, R.K Pur, Hutbay, Junglighat & Delanipur.
