Port Blair, Aug 29: On 25/08/19, a credible information was received from reliable source that a cargo jeep bearing Reg. No. AN01-B-9662 was transporting illegal hand swan padauk timber from Mithakhari to Ograbraj. Immediately, a team under the guidance of SI V.K. Maurya, SHO PS Ograbraj alongwith SI Mohd. Rafique, PCs Pabitro Bepari & Bikash Sen rushed to Ograbraj junction and intercepted the cargo jeep and recovered 24 pieces of sawn padauk from the possession of persons namely T. Shankar Rao S/o Late Sunder Rao, 49 yrs, Driver R/o Old Pahargaon and Prabir Mondal S/o Shri. Gour Mondal, 20 yrs R/o Minnie Bay. The above sawn padauk has been seized under the cover of seizure memo of Indian Forest Act, 1927. Later, the accused alongwith seized sawn padauk were handed over to the official of Forest Department for further necessary action.
The entire operations took place under the supervision of SDPO (B/Flat).
