Port Blair, Aug 20: Several employees working under MGNREGA are sitting on indefinite mass hunger strike since 19.08.2019 at Tiranga Park, Port Blair, demanding enhancement of their wages which has not been increased since June, 2012.
Now information has been received from sources that some lady employees have complained about weakness and vomiting after which Doctors were called at the protest site. The Doctors have reportedly advised the protesting ladies to have ORS but as per information the employees have refused to give up and continue the Hunger Strike.
Meanwhile, social worker, Mr. Sanjay Meshak has visited the protest site today and spoke to protesting employees. Talking to Andaman Sheekha he requested the Administration to intervene into this matter and do justice to the employees.
