Port Blair, Aug 09: High waves in the range of 3.5 – 3.8 meters are forecasted during 23:30 hours on 09-08-2019 to 23:30 hours of 11-08-2019 along the west coast of Andaman Islands from Ten Degree Channel to Coco Channel. Surface Current speeds vary between 48 – 57 cm/sec. Due to strong monsoon current strong southwesterly wind speed exceeding 45 KMPH and generally rough to very rough seas likely along and off Andaman & Nicobar coast. Fishermen are advised not to venture into the sea during the period 9th-11th August, 2019.
In Nicobar District high waves in the range of 3.0 – 3.6 meters are forecasted during 23:30 hours on 09-08-2019 to 23:30 hours of 11-08-2019 along the west coast of Nicobar Islands from Ten Degree Channel to Great Channel. Surface Current speeds vary between 35 – 63 cm/sec. Due to strong monsoon current strong southwesterly wind speed exceeding 45 KMPH and generally rough to very rough seas likely along and off Andaman & Nicobar coast.Fishermen are advised not to venture into the sea during the period 9th-11th August, 2019.The general public is advised to take precautionary measures and in case of any emergency contact in the following phone numbers of State Control Room, District Control Room and Emergency Operation Centres.
