Port Blair, Aug 09: ICAR- KVK, N&M Andaman (CIARI) organized two days training on “Fish feed production technology for rural aquaculture” at Community Hall, Madhupur Panchayat, Diglipur. The training was inaugurated by Mr. Shyamal Debnath, Pradhan, Madhupur in presence of Mr. Nirpen Biswas, Ward member, Dr. B. L. Kasinath, S.S & Head, Dr. Shailesh Kumar, SMS, Mr. Soumyadip Paul, AFDO and others. In his inaugural speech Mr. Shyamal Debnath, expressed for the need of such training programme for enhancing fish productivity in this region. Dr. B. L. Kasinath, briefed about the role of KVK for promoting innovative farming practices in N&M Andaman district and urged the participants to adopt scientific methods for better crop productivity. Dr. Shailesh Kumar briefed the participants about contents of training programme including interactive lectures, presentations, visuals and practical demonstrations.
During the technical sessions topics on need for quality fish feeds in aquaculture, type of local feed ingredients for fish feed, selection criteria for fish feed ingredients and feed formulation, theory of fish feed preparation, equipments used for different types of fish feeds, feed management in aquaculture, schemes of department of fisheries etc were covered by Dr. B. L. Kasinath, Dr. Shailesh Kumar and Mr. Mr. Soumyadip Paul. Visuals and practical demonstrations were also conducted during the programme and farm inputs were given to participants during the concluding sessions. A total of 35 participants were benefitted from the training programmes. The training was organized by Dr Shailesh Kumar under the supervision & guidance of Dr. B. L. Kasinath, Sr. Scientist & Head and Dr. A. Kundu, Director, CIARI, Port Blair.
