Port Blair, August 8: A delegation led by, Miss. Mariyam Bibi, Ex- Abhyaksha, Zilla Parishad, South Andaman along with Mr M.K Sundaram, Mr Deva Kumar, Zilla Parishad Members, recently met the Secretary (Shipping) and apprised him of the problems being faced by the daily commuters of the Bambooflat area due to frequent disruption of the vehicle ferry services. They demanded proper maintenance & repair of boats and also to take necessary steps for early augmentation of new vehicle ferry.
They also requested for extension & improvement of berthing and parking facilities at Chatham & Bambooflath Jetty. They further requested for halting of only vehicle ferry service at Bambooflath Jetty during night hours for evacuating the emergent patient to G.B Pant Hospital. The Secretary gave a patient hearing and assured them to look into the matter positively.
