Port Blair, Aug 06: It has been noticed by the Transport Department that some of the Private Buses are not operating the buses as per the approved route map and return the buses midway without completing the trips, which causes inconveniences to the general public, who are waiting for the route buses. It is also noticed that trips are cancelled due to breakdown of buses. In case of repair it is responsibility of the bus owner to ply reserve bus on that route without cancelling the trip so that commuters are not deprived of public transport.
All the private bus owners have been directed by the Department that in case of any cancellation of trip due to break down or repair, they should immediately send the reserve bus. If the owner is not in a position to ply reserve bus on the same route, the owner of the bus shall intimate the matter to the control room of Transport Department (Phone No.240059) for taking necessary action for plying STS buses on that route. Any lapse in this regard will be viewed very seriously and action including suspension/ cancellation of permit will be taken against the erring private buses.
