Port Blair, August 4: To build in scientific temperament among the students and also to expose them on the latest development in R & D activities of Agriculture, the students of IV to IX standard of Don Bosco School, Lal Pahar, South Andaman made a visit to the multi-disciplinary Institute of ICAR-CIARI, Port Blair on 3rd August, 2019 along with their Principal and the teachers. At the outset a warm welcome was given by Dr Jaya Kumaravaradan, Scientist (Agril. Economics) and coordinator of the programme at Dr T.R. Dutta conference hall which was followed by a powerpoint presentation of the activities of Kisan Mela and an of the Institute activities by Dr. S.K. Zamir Ahmed, Pr. Scientist and Coordinator. The team were exposed to Dweep Krishi Darpan depicting the overall activities of the Institute in the field of Natural Resource Management, Horticulture & Forestry, Field Corp Improvement and Protection, Fisheries Science, Animal Science, Social Science, KVKs and ORC. Beside visit butterfly collection, fisheries and walk through the horticulture crops and IFS was also conducted. The students along with the Father Deva Anbu, Principal and Father Charles Grace, Vice Principal showed a lot of in learning about the Insitute activities and expressed their happiness in conducting the educational tour for the students.
A total of 175 students participated and interacted with the team coordinated by Dr. S.K. Zamir Ahmed, Principal Scientist, Dr. R. Jaya Kumaravaradan, Scientist, Dr.Joshitha Vijayan, Scientist, Ms. Deepitha R.P., Scientist, Ms. Sreepriya Prakasan, Scientist, Dr. Ajit Waman, Scientist along with Ms. Rina Saha, Mr Ali Akbar, & Mr R. Armugham , Mr. Siba Mahato under the plan and guidance of Dr. A. Kundu, Director, ICAR-CIARI.
