Port Blair, August 4: The Special Summary Revision of Photo Electoral Rolls is scheduled by the Election Commission of India, with reference to January 1, 2020, as the qualifying date for enrollment of new electors. In this context, a meeting was held under the Chairmanship of the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), A&N Islands, Mr K R Meena with the Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) / Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AEROs) in the conference hall of Secretariat today. The objective of the meeting was to streamline the process of verification of existing entries in the electoral roll and also enrolment of new and left out electors so as to prepare an error-free and healthy Electoral Roll.
The CEO informed that data collection for the Summary Revision will be started from 16.08.2019, which will be verified by BLOs before being uploaded on the website of Election Commission of India. He directed District Election Officers (DEOs) for empanelment of CSCs, willing to work in the registration process, besides administrative offices like Assistant Commissioners, Tehsildars etc. He also advised for the encouragement of BLOs to use an android mobile phone to enable them to check and update data and other information related to the Summary Revision online on Voters Helpline, Mobile App, National Voters Service Portal (NVSP) etc. The flow of information between Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) and BLOs have to be maintained both online and offline to ensure real-time uploading of data on the ERO Net Portal of the Commission, he said.
The CEO informed that all relevant forms with regard to deletion, modification and addition of electors in the Electoral Roll have been made available by the BLOs of the respective polling stations during House to House (H2H) survey to be commenced from 16.08.2019. He stressed for providing proper training to the BLOs, involving CSC operators and BLAs to be appointed by political parties to avoid error in collection of data. State Level Master Trainers (SLMTs) and District Level Master Trainers (DLMTs) have been identified who are being trained by Commission. These Master Trainers will impart training to AEROs/ BLO Supervisors/BLOs/DCCs from 08.08.2019 to 12.08.2019 in all three (03) Districts. Besides that, a massive drive to create awareness among masses will be launched from 16.08.2019 to ensure the involvement of all stakeholders in this exercise. The meeting was attended among others by the Additional District Magistrate-cum-Electoral Registration Officer, A&N Islands Parliamentary Constituency, Mr Ranjit Kumar Singh and the Assistant Electoral Registration Officers of the respective tehsils/blocks.
