Port Blair, July 28: Parking has become a massive problem inside Port Blair city. While the Administration and Traffic Police have failed to provide bigger and better parking areas for public, the public on the other hand have failed to show some responsibility in parking their car inside city area.
Sadly while on one hand Parking areas around Netaji Stadium remain largely un-utilized on the other hand people park vehicles inside Bazaar area, making things difficult for everyone. “The Traffic Police must ask public to park vehicles in all parking areas around Netaji Stadium and walk upto Aberdeen Bazaar, which will keep city decongested,” said a resident of Aberdeen Bazaar.
Here the parking area infront of ASI building remain highly unorganized just because there is no one to regulate vehicles inside the parking area. It has been observed that people park their vehicles very irresponsibly, wherever, whichever way they can, inside the ASI Parking area, making things difficult for others to park or even to bring out vehicles.
The road from light house junction to Delanipur has become a parking zone of all kind of luxury cars and no traffic jawans could be seen in the area to regulate the traffic in the said road.
“The drain along the road from light house junction to Delanipur, must be covered and the covered part must be allowed for parking vehicles. This will create more room for vehicles to move,” said a resident of Phoenix Bay.
When there is so much of shortage of parking area, some parking zones, like the one, infront of court, has been reserved for VIPs, which is shameful. This is hard to understand the Traffic Police is working for public or for VIPs.
