Diglipur, July 04: The wooded bridge, over Khari Nallah, connecting Kalighat and Nischintapur Village of North Andaman, which was washed away by water current in the nallah on 12 June 2019 after heavy rain, will now be reconstructed by the District Administration of North Andaman.
The Deputy Commissioner of North and Middle Andaman, Mr. Awanish Kumar and his team has shown great promptness in sanctioning necessary estimated fund of Rs. 4, 75,000 and the bridge will now be constructed under MGNREGA.
The DC of North and Middle Andaman had also reportedly directed the authorities to complete the construction of the bridge as early as possible.
Meanwhile talking to Andaman Sheekha Mrs. Pushpa Rani Mandal, Pradhan of Kalighat Panchayat today said that the Forest Department has also extended their help in reconstructing the bridge and has permitted collection of suitable wooden poles from the forest.
According to the In-Charge of the MGNREGA, the work has already started and if weather permits, the work will be finished within two weeks.
Meanwhile, the Kalighat Panchayat has arranged dinghies for the people of Nishchintapur to cross the Khari Nallah.
