Port Blair, June 20: The Andaman and Nicobar Administration has finally reconstituted Andaman & Nicobar UT Commission for Protection of Child Rights (UTCPCR). The term of the Commission will be for a period not exceeding 03 years.
The office of the Chairperson of UT Commission for protection of Child Rights (UTCPCR) a statuary body working for the protection of child rights in Andaman was been laying vacant since last more than one year.
Without a Chairperson, the commission was unable to discharge its normal duties as complaints of child rights violation are put on hold.
The Lt. Governor (Administrator) Andaman & Nicobar Islands today reconstituted the Andaman & Nicobar UT Commission for Protection of Child Rights on the basis of the recommendation made by the Selection Committee with immediate effect.
According to reports Mr. Taranga Kumar Dhali will be the Chairperson of the UTCPCR, Mrs. Sampa Banerjee, Mrs. Ratna Kannan and Mrs. Neha Agarwal will be the Members of the Commission.
Of late many media reports came out in Andaman, highlighting the issue of wanted delay in reconstituting the UTCPCR.
